In 1928, with no university degree and no initiation into any secret society, a 27-year-old assembled the most complete encyclopedia of Masonic, Hermetic and Rosicrucian knowledge ever published. His name was Manly P. Hall. The Freemasons recognized that an outsider had explained their tradition better than they could, and made him a 33rd degree Mason without a single initiation.
